Branding, print and web design for the Young Adult author
Aariel Portera is an author of gothic fantasy books. Tasked with creating a brand and applying it the the author’s books and website, Odd Zero was able to let loose with some rich and indulgent design.
Beyond the general brand that includes the logo, typography and color palette, visual themes were set as motifs for the author’s cover art. Odd Zero established these motifs in the work for Bright Blood, the author’s most recent book.
In addition to the logo, color palette and typography, the brand includes a custom hand-drawn typeface for titles inspired by the letterforms in the logo. Swirling, glowing flourishes accent the title. Ornate typography, luscious colors, mysterious photography, and layered lighting effects all comprise a dramatic visual brand that lets the reader know that this is an Aariel Portera book.
