Emily Brennan, the owner and operator of Mal du Pays, creates floral arrangements from the seasonal selection grown on her flower farm. Inspiration for bespoke fragrance design comes from the experience of being outside in the natural world. In the creation of both works she interprets the experience of a time and place that our world presents to us. The product—a memory—is a tribute to the natural, wild world rather than a distortion of its elements into something synthetic and neatly contained.
Emily’s work itself is not so curated that it doesn’t feel genuine. It has nuance; ephemeral and luxurious, with wisdom. In order to reflect the qualities of the work, the brand has one foot in classic tradition and the other in wild, bold and uncontainable. Softness and delicate beauty hit with a little edge.
A unique feature of the brand was the gold foil used in print and shown digitally. This feature adds a luxe finish and offers texture to supplement clean designs. Gold, with its oldschool glamour with a young vibrance, is the star of this brand identity.
